Joseph Davies was born on 30th December 1878, possibly at Cefn Maes close to the Four Crosses/Moors Inn, although the old cottages now a pile of stones. Joseph was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Davies, who are buried at Bethesda. At the time of his death the family lived at Bryntirion, Ruthin Road, Bwlchgwyn. Joseph Davies enlisted in South Wales.
